Alice Doreen Watson

Alice Doreen Watson, 82, of Westford, passed away November 3rd at the Westford House Nursing Home. Alice was born in Bradford, England, daughter to the late Herbert and Emma Clayton. She was raised and educated in England before immigrating to America in 1962. She worked at Southwell Combing in Chelmsford and then went on to work as a bookkeeper at the Norman E. Day Electrical Company. Prior to her retirement, Alice worked for many years as a bookkeeper for the Westford Public Schools. In her free time she enjoyed reading and gardening and she was always a charitable and giving person. Her greatest love was time spent with her family and many dear friends. Alice leaves her loving husband of 63 years, Denis Watson, of Westford; a daughter, Helena Harrison, and her husband, Peter, of Leeds, UK; and a son, Andrew T. Watson, and his wife, Joanne, of Groton, MA; and a brother, Basil Clayton, and his wife, Geraldine, of Devon, UK. She also leaves 4 grandchildren; Melanie Janvrin, Andrew Peter Watson, Scott Harrison, and Haley Watson, and 3 great-grandchildren; Tessa Janvrin, Paige Marie Watson, and Drew Patrick Watson. She is also predeceased by a brother, Dr. Colin Clayton, of Oxford, UK.Friends are invited to call on Wednesday, November 7th from 4 to 7 p.m. at the J. A. Healy Sons Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine's Church in Westford. Cremation is to follow.Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to a charity of one's choice.
