Barbara J. (Newman) Currier, age 74, a resident of Hubbardston House for the past five months, passed away on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011 at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester from complication from a stroke. She was born in Lowell on April 2, 1937, the daughter of the late Frank Newman and late Muriel (Francis) Mountain. Barbara worked as a waitress for many years at the Old Oaken Bucket in Westford and also with Discom. She was kind and generous person who will always be remembered for her love and dedication to her family and friends. She is survived by a brother, Ed Mountain and his wife Kelly and family of Westford; three sons, Kevin O'Hare of Ashburnham and his twin brother Ken O'Hare of Fitchburg and Jeff Currier of Ayer; one daughter, Joanne (O'Hare) Johnston of Pepperell; five cherished grandchildren, Kenneth Mickel and family of Kentucky, Chris Mickel and wife Tammi, Brandon Johnston, all of Pepperell, Jared O'Hare of Ashburnham, Jennifer O'Hare and companion Zachary Boudreau of Winchendon; six great grandchildren, Jazzmen Mickel of TN., Sha-lyn and Kolby Mickel of Kentucky, Jeffrey Jr. and Kayla Currier of Canada, Alexis and Jace Mickel of Pepperell and Chloe McNight of Winchendon; a dear cousin who was like a brother to her, Mike Carey; also several aunts, cousins and special lifelong friends, Irene and Moe Hendrickson of NH, Betsy and Mert Smith of CA and Betty and Conrad of FL.brAt her request, there will be no calling hours.
