Carl G. Lyman

d. May 21, 2012

Carl G. Lyman, 74, formerly of Westford, MA and most recently, Bedford, NH died at home May 21, 2012 surrounded by his loving family, after fighting a courageous battle with kidney cancer. Husband of the late Marion T. Doucette Lyman and son of the late William and Margaret Lyman. Carl was a teacher in the Westford school system for forty years. His love of teaching and his dedication to providing a quality education for every student made him a stand out in his chosen field. Carl's love of teaching was only over shadowed by his love and devotion to his family, friends and church. His wife of thirty-seven years, Marion (Doucette) Lyman, predeceased him on September 23, 2007. Carl's life had been completely devoted to Marion and her passing left him with a void that could never be filled and he spent his remaining days carrying on as Marion would have expected him to, committed to his children, his grandchildren, his friends and his beloved church. Carl made his final home with his daughter, Cara Lyman Galli, her husband David C. Galli and their son Miles Raymond Galli in Bedford, NH. Cara and David were Carl's caregivers, his support and his strength. Their love and devotion filled Carl's remaining years with love and the joy of spending time with Miles. He also leaves behind his son Daniel Lyman, his two granddaughter's Kelly and Emma Lyman and their mother Heather James. Kelly and Emma were a source of joy for Carl and he loved spending time with them. Kim Schaefer, his "Calabash Daughter", who viewed Carl as the father she never had; The entire Boire clan (Mike, Paula, Matty, Nick, Christian, Tove and Anja). He adored you all and always had you in his prayers. His cousin Leah Knowlton and Joan McGowan, Dad adored you both. You added to his life in ways that words can't describe. Carl will be missed by his family, his many friends and each will remember him in their own special way. We hope all will remember him as a lover of all things Irish, his unwavering loyalty, compassion and belief in the good that we all bring to the table and last but not least his love of a good Scotch whiskey. Carl's strong faith and devotion to his church were a source of comfort and strength for him . He believed that in passing he would be reunited with Marion and he was happy to go to her. We believe Marion is waiting to welcome Carl home to what has been in his heart since her passing.
