Catherine F. (Reynolds) Procter, passed away on April 30th 2020 at the age of 96.
Catherine (Kay) Procter experienced the best of life. She was born in Boston to Irish immigrant parents on November 23rd, 1923, and grew up in Dorchester surrounded by a loving close-knit family. Kay was introduced to her husband, George Procter, by her sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and John Cronin. They married in 1954 and enjoyed 50 years together. After living in Philadelphia for a short time, Kay and George returned to Massachusetts, settled in Burlington and raised a family. There they enjoyed many years together sharing their love of dancing and socializing with friends and family.
As a daughter, sister, mother, and grandmother, Kay loved spending time with her family. In particular, roast beef dinners on Sundays served as a time for gatherings for the youngest to oldest family members. Everyone came together to share stories and laughter. Spending time at the coast also played a prominent role in her life. As a teen and young adult Kay enjoyed Houghs Neck beach in Quincy, and Tenean and Malibu beaches in Dorchester with her family and friends. In the 1960's the family began spending their summers at Humarock Beach in Scituate where the children learned to swim and had their "summer" friends. Kay and George later spent their retirement in Falmouth, MA and winters in Hobe Sound, FL near family and close friends.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, George Procter; sisters Frances Reynolds, Marion Reynolds, and Dorothy Cronin; and brother Thomas Reynolds. She is survived by her two children, David Procter of Tyngsboro, MA and his wife Kelly; and Susan Macfarlane of North Londonderry, NH and her husband Robert. Kay also leaves her sister Margaret Reynolds of Milton, MA and 3 grandchildren: Nathaniel, Benjamin, and Samuel Procter of Tyngsboro, MA.
Immediate services for Kay at the J.A. Healy Funeral Home in Westford, MA will be private, and interment will be at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. The family wishes to thank Life Care Center of Merrimack Valley and New England Hospice for their kind care and support.
