Cecilia A (Ward) Healy, 91, of Westford died Saturday September 10, 2011 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital. She was born in Lowell, December 6, 1919, a daughter of the late Bernard D. and Margaret T. (O'Brien) Ward and made her home there until she moved to Westford in 1946. She was a graduate of St. Peter's Grammar School and Lowell High School, class of 1937. She was a Lieutenant in the Girl Officer's Regiment and past president of the former Girl Officer's Alumnae. She graduated from Lowell Commercial College and was President of her class. On July 15, 1944, she married James L. Healy who was serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1946, the couple moved to Westford when James joined the family funeral business. Mr. And Mrs. Healy raised their nine children and Jim became Owner and President of J. A. Healy Sons Funeral Home and was a former Westford Selectman. While raising her children, "C" served as president of the Notre Dame Academy P.T.A. and president of the Groton Country Day School P.T.A. She was a communicant of St. Catherine Church, Westford and for many years directed the Variety Shows for the parish. Mrs. Healy operated "C's" Place, an antique and collectible shop on Rt. 110 for almost 30 years. She was also a member of the friends of the Cameron Senior Center and member of the Council on Aging. For the greater part of her life, her summers were spent at Hampton Beach, N.H., where she welcomed many relatives and friends. She also enjoyed winter trips to Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico where she was lovingly known as "Mama Healy." In her leisure time, she enjoyed reading and writing poetry. She is survived by six daughters, Nancy M. Healy of Pepperell, Mary C. Lane, Kathleen "Toody" Healy and her husband Gus Bickford, Joanne "Jody" Rolens, Geraldine "Dini" Healy-Coffin and her husband Chris, all of Westford, Patricia LeBlanc of Pepperell; two sons Frederick W. Healy and his wife Janis and R. Ward Healy and his wife Kimberley, all of Westford; thirteen grandchildren: Byron Lane, Kerry Rolens, Benjamin Coffin and his fiancée Stephanie Hall, Margaret "Meg" Coffin, Jordan, Lauren, and Andrew Healy, Kathryn, Molly, and Abigail LeBlanc, and Austin, Sarah, and James Healy; two great grandchildren, Brandon and Amber-Rose; many loving nieces and nephews, friends and good neighbors here and in Puerto Rico. She was the wife of the late James L. Healy Sr. to whom she was married for almost 49 years, mother to the late James L. Healy Jr., sister to John, Gerald and Robert Ward; Margaret Chabot and husband Oliver, their daughter Kay and her daughter Tess; sister to Eileen Sargent and husband Frank, Kathleen King and husband William, and their son William King III; sister-in-law to Mary E. Dinneen and husband Edward, Barbara Healy (Jim's Twin), Robert Healy and wife Gabrielle, and aunt to Patricia Sears, all of whom pre-deceased her.Friends may call at the Healy Funeral Home, Thursday September 15th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Cecilia's funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, September 16th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 107 North Main St., Westford.
