Christa E. Hirschler

Westford - Christa E. Hirschler, 88, a Westford resident, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 29, 2023. She was the wife of the late Richard J. Hirschler who passed in 1991.

Christa was born on January 29, 1935, in Germany where she was raised and received her education. She was a daughter of the late William “Willy” Petri and Elisabeth (Scholz) Petri.

While working as a waitress at an Officer’s Club in Heidelberg, Germany she met the love of her life, Richard J. Hirschler. They were married on post at the Army Base in Heidelberg and eventually moved to the United States where they raised their loving daughter, Gloria Hirschler.

Following Richard’s retirement from the Armed Services while assigned to Ft. Deven’s Army Base, they purchased a home in Westford. 

Christa worked for many years as a nurse's aide at the former Westford Nursing Home. 

She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, sewing, crocheting, knitting and cooking. She especially loved her pets, both dogs and cats. 

Family members enjoyed vacationing from Europe, taking trips to Hampton, Boston, Concord and Salem.

Trips to the ocean with her best friends Cindy Tremble and Leona McGuire was a treat for all. 

In addition to her loving daughter Gloria, she leaves her sister, Helga Nibbia, also several nieces and nephews residing in Switzerland, Germany and Austria. 

She was predeceased by her best friends, Cynthia Tremble, Leona McGuire as well as 6 siblings.

Funeral Services were held privately.
