Derek A. Lyman

Derek A. Lyman, 28, of Waltham, MA, passed away on October 20, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. Derek was born in Boston to Edward H.R. and Mary (Der) Lyman. Raised and educated in Westford, MA, Derek was a graduate with Westford Academy's class of 2003 and an Eagle Scout of Troop 159 in Westford. Derek went on to study Complex Organizations and Informational Systems as an independent concentration at UMass Amherst. While a student, he co-founded Dexrex LLC, a web technology startup. An entrepreneur and businessman, he continued his career as EVP of Strategy at Break Media Group and a Director of the Amherst Center for Entrepreneurship. Derek leaves his loving parents, Edward and Mary Lyman of Westford; brothers, Jeffrey Lyman of Westford, Scott Lyman and his wife Natallia of Billerica and Brett Lyman of Somerville; a nephew, Kelvin Lyman; Derek's girlfriend, Erika Haug of Waltham and many dear friends.brA private burial and service were held at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Westford. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Derek's life will be held at the First Parish Church United at 48 Main St. Westford, Mass. beginning at 3PM on Nov. 10, 2012.
