Donald E. Floyd, 91, of Hudson, NH and formerly a long time resident of Westford, MA passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. Donald was born in Halifax, Nova Scotia and was the son of the late Thomas and Mabel (Crouse) Floyd. After the passing of his parents, he was lovingly raised by his Aunt Lena Monaghan in Waltham MA and graduated from Waltham High School in 1938. It was during these years that he met and later married the love of his life with whom he raised eight children. After serving his country in the United States Army during World War II, primarily in Alaska, he became a long time employee of Raytheon where he was employed as an Industrial Engineer. Donald was active in the Raytheon Management Club and the Raytheon Golf League. In his free time he enjoyed the beaches in Maine bravely diving into the icy waves. Known for his sense of humor and boisterous laugh, he never missed an opportunity to share a joke. Most of all, he enjoyed the time he spent with his family and the many friends he acquired during his life, especially during the holidays. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Donald is predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Rose (Codyer) Floyd who passed away in 1977 and a brother Gerald Floyd. He leaves his children, David and his wife Julie Floyd of Sun City Center, FL, Diane and her husband Donald Murphy of Litchfield, NH, Stephen and his wife Maryjane Floyd of Calabash, NC, Elizabeth and her husband William Hoermann of Westford, MA, Donna and her husband August Jardin of Hampton, NH, Susan Smith of Hudson, NH, Douglas Floyd of Chesapeake, VA and Michael and his wife Diane Floyd of Natick, MA; 16 grandchildren: Jason Floyd, Joshua Floyd, Janice Roberts, Brian Murphy, Allison Iannuzzi, Michael Floyd, Christopher Floyd, Sarah Santos, Rebecca Hoermann, Amy Jardin, Patrick Jardin, Brendan Smith, Benjamin Floyd, Rachel Floyd, Matthew Floyd and Aidan Floyd; and 12 great grandchildren.Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours at the J. A. Healy Sons Funeral Home on Sunday, November 20th from 3 to 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine's Church, Westford.
