Doris A. (Costello) Hopkins, 76, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2023 at home surrounded by family. She was the beloved wife of the late John E. Hopkins, Sr. until his passing in 2010.
She was born in Cambridge, MA on July 21, 1947 and was the daughter of the late Katherine (Beaver) and Thomas Costello.
Doris was devoted to her faith, attending Mass regularly as well as religious retreats when given the opportunity.
She loved reading, where she was active in book clubs and later in life found an interest in tai chi.
Doris is survived and will be deeply missed by her two children, John E. Hopkins, Jr. and his wife Sara of Westford and Lisa J. Cashins and her partner Ann Berntsen of Reading; her eight grandchildren, Thomas, Ashley, Allison, Robyn, Amber, Noel, Lily and Noah; her two sisters, Carol of CA and Barbara of AZ; her sister-in-law, Carol Costello; her former son-in-law, Michael Cashins; as well as several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She was the sister of the late Joseph Costello.
Relatives and friends are invited to Doris’ Celebration of Life on Thursday, January 4, 2024 from 4 until 7 PM at the WESTFORD HEALY FUNERAL HOME, 57 N Main Street, Westford. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, January 5th at 10 AM at BLESSED TRINITY PARISH - ST. CATHERINE OF ALEXANDRIA CHURCH, 107 North Main Street, Westford, MA. Burial to follow in Wood End Cemetery, Reading, MA. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Doris to support cancer research and patient care at: Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284.
