Doris R. (Gearin) Karkota, 96, a resident of Westford, died Tuesday, October 26, 2021 with her sons by her side. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Karkota Sr., until his passing in 2011.
She was born in Lowell on July 22, 1925 and was the daughter of the late Olive E. (Bellerose) and Arthur W. Gearin Sr.
During her youth, Doris was active in the girl scouts and became a scout-leader during her adult years.
She worked for the MITRE Corporation for many years. Initially, starting out as a secretary but then advancing to an intelligence analyst after receiving her Master's Degree from Rivier College.
After retirement, she became very active in St. Catherine Church. Doris was active in the building of the Parish Center and writing the history of the Church.
Doris is survived and will be deeply missed by her two sons, Frank Karkota Jr. and Dennis Karkota both of Westford; two grandchildren, Christina Owens of Tennessee and Jason Karkota of Florida and her seven great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her two brothers, Arthur W. Gearin Jr. and Raymond Gearin.
