WESTFORD -- Dorothy E. (Henze) Zitta, age 91, passed away on Monday, November 4, 2013 at Apple Valley Center in Ayer after a long illness. For 70 years, she was the beloved wife of Raymond Zitta.
Dorothy was born in New York City on March 3, 1922, a daughter of the late Charles and Lydia (Strauss) Henze. She was a longtime resident of Westford and a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Chelmsford.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a dictaphone operator with several companies in the New York City area.
Dorothy had a great love for animals, was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening, knitting and arts and crafts. She was very devoted to her faith and was known for her kindness. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Besides her husband Raymond, she is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Raymond C. and Kathryn Zitta of Norton, and Rob W. and Melinda Zitta of Townsend; two grandchildren, Steven Zitta of Attleboro and Erica Zitta of Taunton; and a great granddaughter, Katelyn. She was the sister of the late Pearl Johnson.
Relatives and friends may call at the J.A. HEALY SONS FUNERAL HOME, 57 N. Main St., WESTFORD, on Friday morning, Nov. 8, from 9:30am until 10:30am. Her Funeral Service will follow at 11 o'clock at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 170 Old Westford Rd., Chelmsford. Interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford.
