AYER - Eugene M. "Gene" Tofanelli, 80, died Saturday morning, May 17, 2014 at Nashoba Hospital in Ayer, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Sandra (Nicolazzo) Tofanelli with whom he shared 59 years of successful marriage.
Gene was born in the North End of Boston on November 12, 1933, and lived in Westford for 45 years. He was the son of the late Desio and Francis (Orlandi) Tofanelli. He proudly served during the Korean War as a member of the United States Navy.
Prior to his retirement, he was an electrician at Gillette in Andover for 22 years. Gene actively participated as a little league coach, Boy Scout leader, ski coach and softball player. He spent his retirement years traveling countless miles with Sandra in their motor home. His travels took him various places including Alaska. He lived a life full of love, laughter, and family. He touched the lives of young and old.
In addition to his wife, Gene was a wonderfully caring father of his son, Eugene "Matt" Tofanelli, Jr. and his wife Sandra of Prior Lake, MN, and his daughter, Pia Ann Anctil and her husband Robert of Groton, MA, and four grandchildren: Nicholas and Marcus Tofanelli, and Travis and Kendra Anctil.
