Gary K. Tibbetts

Gary Tibbetts, 65, of Westford, MA died at home September 16th of cancer. Gary was born October 14th, 1945 in Boston, MA, son of the late Stuart and Phyllis Tibbetts. He had an older brother, Bruce Tibbetts, who pre-deceased him. Gary's boyhood family home was Needham MA. He attended the Needham public schools and went on to attain a BFA degree in Graphic Design at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. For all of his working career, Gary was a designer and art director, working primarily with print and photography. He ran his own design studio in Boston for six years. His creative talents spilled over into his personal life in the form of woodworking, photography, interior design, gardening and cooking. Gary was passionate about jazz music and when his peers were listening to Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Buddy Holly, Gary was bebopping to Dizzy Gillespie, Miles Davis, Bennie Goodman and Dave Brubeck. Gary was community-minded and for 11 of the 21 years he lived at the Hildreth Hills Condominiums of Westford, he was on the volunteer board of trustees. His managerial aptitude was notable and he oversaw with competence many community improvement projects that would daunt the ordinary person. He leaves his wife, Martha G. Abbott of Westford, MA, with whom he spent a happy 23 years. He also leaves extended family in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Illinois.brGary's funeral service will be private with burial at Forest Hills Cemetery.Friends who wish may make memorial contributions in his name to the charity of one's choice.
