Georgette C. Pietras

Georgette C. (Socha) Pietras passed away peacefully on July 25, 2023 at the age of 99. She was raised in Forge Village, Westford. Georgette moved to Groton when she married John Pietras. Together they raised five children and celebrated 70 years of marriage before John’s passing in 2017 at the age of 94. Many remember Georgette from her work the Groton Post Office, from which she retired. Georgette made many new friends traveling the country to attend Army reunions celebrating the 509th paratroopers to which John was a member in WWII.

Her true joy in life was her family. She leaves five children, John of Minnesota, Anne of Florida, Philip and his wife Kathy of Groton, Andrew and his wife Peg of Groton and Michael and his husband Mark of Virginia; six grandchildren, Chad, Ryan, Sarah, Yana, Rex and Lily and two great-grandchildren, Calvin and Lilah.

She is predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Michaela Mahady of Minnesota.

The family wishes to thank all those dedicated, caring people who helped care for her in her final years, most recently, the staff at Life Care Center of Nashoba Valley and New England Hospice.

Georgette’s life was celebrated at a private Catholic Mass followed by her burial. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Georgette’s memory to St. Benedict Abbey, 252 Still River Road, P.O. Box 67, Still River, MA 01467 or to a charity of your choice.
