TYNGSBOROUGH - Glenna G. (Hedlund) Greenslade, age 63, passed away on Monday, August 22, 2016, at Lowell General Hospital surrounded by her loving family after a long valiant battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late, Teddy Greenslade who passed away in 1982.
She was born in Lowell on December 19, 1952, a daughter of the late Albert and Catherine (Heaney) Hedlund. Glenna was a lifelong resident of Tyngsborough and graduated from Tyngsborough High School, class of 1970. She went on to further her education at Newbury College.
Glenna started her career with the Tyngsborough Police Department as a matron in 1988 and was hired full time as a dispatcher in 1998. She became the Chief dispatcher in 2000 and was a member of the NEPBA Local 8A.
Glenna was a diligent worker who loved nothing more than being with her family and grandchildren.
According to Chief Rich Howe of the Tyngsborough Police Department, "Glenna was a gentle, caring person who was a consummate professional and lead our communication division with distinction for 16 years. Even when she was sick, she had a smile on her face and a positive attitude. Glenna loved her job and the community and fellow employees loved her. We lost a great colleague who will be difficult to replace, we have also lost a friend."
Glenna is survived by her longtime companion of over twenty five years, Dan Bryant of Lowell; her three children, Teddy Greenslade, IV and his fiance Diana Murphy, Shane Greenslade and his wife Diane, all of Tyngsborough and Mandi Dinsmore and her husband Mark of Westford; a step-daughter, Christine Guilmette and her husband Jay of Townsend; two sisters and a brother, Lisa Goguen and her husband Paul of Tyngsborough, Erik Hedlund of Tyngsborough and Pam Lowe and her husband Gary of Derry, NH; eight grandchildren, Stephanie, Tyler, Corey, Madisyn, Bella, Brady, Brooke and Savanna; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Cook and her husband Chet of Westford and Beverly Tufts of Derry, NH; a brother-in-law, Kenneth Greenslade and his wife Robin of Mims, FL; her loving neighbor, Edith Fortier of Tyngsborough; also many nieces, nephews and her dear family at the Tyngsborough Police Department.
ARRANGEMENTS - Relatives and friendsmay callat the J. A. HEALY SONS FUNERALHOME, 57 N. Main St., WESTFORD on Friday, August 26,from 3 until 7pm.Funeral Saturday morning with a Prayer Service to take place at the Funeral Home at 9:30am.
