Joan M. (Shickluna) Chipchak, age 94, died on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at home surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late John S. Chipchak, until his passing in 2008.
She was born in Buffalo, NY on September 9, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Rose (Dietrich) and Carlisle Shickluna. Prior to retirement, Joan worked for 30 years in the administrative office for the Westford Public Schools Special Education Department.
In her earlier years, she was an avid reader, especially of Danielle Steel novels, enjoyed cooking and anything on the Food Network.
Devoted to her faith and the spirit of giving, she was a long-time member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry, where she knitted and crocheted shawls for those grieving or in need of hope.
Her greatest joy, however, was being able to watch her grandchildren grow and having them be an active part of her life.
Joan is survived and will be deeply missed by her three sons, John C. Chipchak and his wife, Lisa of Chelmsford, David A. Chipchak and his wife, Jennifer of Nashua, NH and Peter G. Chipchak of Westford; her five grandchildren, Christopher, Alexiah, Amber, Gregory and Nicholas; as well as many other family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Joan’s Celebration of Life on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 from 4 until 7 PM at the WESTFORD HEALY FUNERAL HOME, 57 N Main Street, Westford.
