Mr. John Carl Patten, age 49, of Bolton, MA, formerly of Littleton, MA, passed away unexpectedly on June 24, 2013 in Wellfleet, MA. He was the beloved husband of Lauren Flanagan with whom he would have celebrated 20 years of marriage on October 16. He was born in Havelock, North Carolina on November 8, 1963, and raised in Vermont, beloved son of James Patten, Jr., and Carleen (Ackley) Patten of Middlebury, VT. He was employed as a Lead Systems Engineer with Wellington Management Co. of Boston and Marlborough, MA for the past 16 years. John mostly enjoyed spending time with his family but also enjoyed target shooting, flying, and participated in Civil War Reenactments. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilot Association, and the Civil Air Patrol. He was also a member of the 22nd Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, who specialized in Civil War Reenactments. Besides his loving wife and parents, he is survived by two sons, Ian and Matthew Patten; and a daughter, Alexandra Patten, all of Bolton; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Timothy & Mary Anne Patten, and James Patten, all of Rutland, VT, and Robert Patten of Middlebury, VT; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Mary Patten Greeno of Middlebury, VT and Michele & Lewis Campbell of Virginia; his father-in-law & mother-in-law, Paul & Mary Flanagan of Westford, MA; his brothers-in-law and their spouses, Keith & Tracy Flanagan, Brian & Nancy Flanagan; and a sister-in-law, Lisa Flanagan; also many loving nieces & nephews. Relatives & Friends will be received at the J.A. Healy Sons Funeral Home on Friday, June 28, 2013 from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. His funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 8 o'clock a.m. at St. John the Guardian of Our Lady Parish, 80 Union St., Clinton, MA 01510. ALL ARE ASKED TO MEET AT CHURCH. Burial will be private.
