WESTFORD - Lawrence V. "Larry" Dean, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Lowell General Hospital. For thirty seven years, he was the beloved husband of Gillian (Homer) Dean.Hewas born in Lowell on January 17, 1949, a son of the late Edward and Louise (Sargent) Dean. Larry was a lifelong resident of Westford, attended Westford schools and graduated from Westford Academy, class of 1967. He went on to serve in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.Larry was a franchise owner/operator of Furniture Medic in Westford. Earlier in his life, he was a certified scuba diver, having worked on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico and the Scotland North Sea. He served as the Past Commander at the Nabnasset American Legion, Post 437 in Westford.Larry had many interests and wasn't afraid to try new things. He loved to learn, read, taking trips to the beach and was loved by all who knew him.Besides his wife, Gillian, he is survived by his siblings, Ed Dean and his wife, Diane, of Milford, Pat Aubrey and her husband, Barry, of Farmington, NY, Fred Dean and his wife, Maggie, of Westford, Betz Dundas and her husband, Dennis, of Tyngsboro, Jeffrey Dean and his partner, Sharon Bresland, of Westford, and Cathy Knox and her husband, Jay, of Sanford, Fl and Lyn Gates and her husband, Don, of Clay, NY; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Wilson and her husband, Graham, and Margaret Chattenton and her husband, Peter, all of Dartford, England; a brother-in-law, Paul Egan of Littleton; also many nieces and nephews. He was a brother of the late Michael Dean and Margaret Egan.ARRANGEMENTS - At his request, services will be held privately and a celebration of Larry's life will take place at a later date.
