Linda Rae Olsen (Aug 26, 1941–June 27, 2024)
Linda Rae Olsen was born in Basin, WY on August 26,1941 to Harold and Helen Olsen. The oldest of five children, she was raised and attended school in Worland, Wyoming. In her youth, Linda took accordion lessons and also learned to play piano. She loved music, especially classical music. She excelled at typing and shorthand and was an accomplished seamstress, winning the Make It with Wool contest in high school. Linda’s first job was at Stockgrowers Bank in Worland. She started out as a teller and eventually became a Vice President. In Nov of 1976, she was in the bank when an armed robber entered. The robber pointed his gun at Linda, and said,“You in the green, go get everyone from the back.” Linda went to the back of the bank, told her fellow employees what was happening and led them in carrying out their decision to try to escape through a door at the back of the bank. After that incident, she left the bank and worked as a real estate agent. She also had job sat a sewing store, as a caregiver, and as an office manager. Linda’s volunteer work included serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christof Latter-day Saints in Atlanta, Georgia, working at the American Cancer Society, and volunteering in a local elementary school. Her hobbies included bowling, snowmobiling, playing cards, reading, word puzzles, crafts, collecting coins, and watching movies. She had a lifelong love of learning. While living in Worland, she also enjoyed racing in the Ten sleep Hill climb. Linda loved her family, friends, and animals. She especially loved her grandson, and always had at least one dog or cat. She enjoyed nature and loved visiting Alaska. She knew how to make people laugh. Linda became ill earlier this year and passed away in her sleep after struggling for 5 months to regain her health. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sibling, Harold (Martha) Olsen. She is survived by her daughter Tamara (Jeff) Adams, her grandson, Ben Adams, and three siblings, Anthony(Sandi) Olsen, Elsie (Floyd dec.) Thompson, and Edith (Mac) Crosby, in addition to numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Linda will be buried in Westford, Massachusetts. There will be a celebration of her life on 3 August at 10:00 amEST at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lowell, MA with Ben Adams playing cello prelude music to start at 9:40am.
