Marika K. (Harju) Warila, age 40, passed away on Monday, March 11, 2013 at her home in Westford, MA after a long battle with cancer. She was the beloved wife of Erik Jon Warila. Marika was born in Pirkkala, Finland on Sept. 16, 1972, daughter of Unto and Seija Harju of Savonlinna, Finland who survive her. She resided in Westford, Mass since August of 2012 and was formerly of Boise, Idaho and Savonlinna, Finland. She was a member of the Vineyard Church of Hopkinton. Prior to her illness, Marika was a music teacher with Lakewood Montessori School in Boise from 2004 until 2009. Among her many interests, she enjoyed music, playing the flute, taking walks in the outdoors, opera, dancing, food, shopping, and had much love for her native country, Finland. Most of all, Marika loved spending time with her family and her Jack Russell Terrier, Milli. Besides her husband Erik and her parents, Unto and Seija, she is survived by a sister, Katja Harju of Savonlinna, Finland; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Jacqueline and Wallace Warila of Boise; two brothers-in-law, J. R. Warila and Nicholas Warila, four sisters-in-law, Diane Dupea, Laurie Ceccarelli, Kim Warila, and Gretchen Warila, all of Boise; her best friend, Ani Hassinen of Lappenranta, Finland. Marika's Memorial Service will take place on Friday, March 15 at 7pm at Metro Church, 401 Elm St., Marlborough, Mass.
