Marjorie Fletcher Smith, 82, passed away on January 18th, 2013 at the Elliot Hospital in Manchester, NH. She was the daughter of the late Austin D. Fletcher and the late Ethel (Ripley) Fletcher of Westford. Marjorie was born in Westford and has been a lifelong resident, a member of the Westford Academy class of 1948. She and her husband Lawrence resided at 76 Lowell Road for over 50 years. She worked as a Pre-School teacher throughout her career, acting as one of the founders and teachers of the Hilltop Nursery School in Westford Center (formerly her father's grocery store) and which later became Westford Pre-School. Later in her career she worked at Col. John Robinson School in Westford. In her free time she enjoyed knitting and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and those in New Brunswick, Canada. She was also an active member of St Mark's Episcopal Church. Marjorie will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She is predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Smith and a daughter, Cynthia Louise Smith. She leaves her loving children, Brian Smith and his wife Janis of Arundel, ME, Dean Smith and his wife Karen Perrone of Seldon, NY and Pamela McGinnity and her husband Peter of Mason, NH; 3 grandchildren, Paige and Ian Smith and Courtney Maynard; a great-grandson, Alexander Smith; a brother, A. Dana Fletcher of Chelmsford; a sister-in-law, Frances Fletcher of Westford; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is also predeceased by two brothers, the Rev. Charles Fletcher and Harold Fletcher. A Memorial Service will take place January 24 at 10:30 at St. Marks Episcopal Church in Westford. Internment to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westford.
