ASHBY - Mary J. (Panneton) Winkle, age 97, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 6, 2017 at the Nashoba Valley Medical Center in Ayer surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Bernard A. Winkle who died in 2000.
She was born in Canada on April 28, 1919, a daughter of the late Thomas and Clara (Bastarache) Panneton.
For eleven years, Mary was a resident of Ashby and was formerly of West Groton where she resided for over sixty years. While residing in West Groton, she was a communicant and very activememberof St. James Parish where she was a member of theLadies Sodality. Mary lead a very active and full life and loved tocook and sew.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Carson of Ashby; a granddaughter, Barbara Bertram and her husband, Michael of Ashby; a great grandson, Daniel Flynn of Ashby; a sister, Theresa Daly of Westford; a brother, Roland Panneton of Hudson, MA; also many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was thesister of the late Anthony, Raymond, Marcel, Lionel and Robert Panneton and Lindy Surawski.
ARRANGEMENTS - Family and friendswill gather to honor and remember Mary at the J. A. HEALY SONS FUNERAL HOME, 57 N. Main St., WESTFORD on Friday, March 10, from 12 to 1pm.
