Maurice J. St. Hilaire, age 87, of Westford, passed away at home on December 10, 2014 following a long illness. He was the widow of Germaine M. (Milot) St. Hilaire, Maurice built their home in Westford where they resided.
He was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada on Aug. 23, 1927, son of the late Leo & Ida (Dumont) St. Hilaire. Affectionately known as "Pepe," "Moe," or "Maury," raised in Lowell and then joined the Navy at 17, he served on the USS Massachusetts (BB-59), USS Washington (BB-56) and USS PC 809 as Seaman First Class. Maurice retired from Setra but enjoyed his earlier years working at Alpine Bowling Lanes as bowling was his favorite hobby. Later on in life he enjoyed Rockingham Park but most of all he took pride and enjoyed his home.
Maurice is joining his sister Gladys, but leaves behind sisters Doris, Estelle, brother Bob and his wife Terry of California, 3 children Gail, Gary, Bruce and his wife Cheryl, 3 grandchildren, Sadie, Max, Sara and her husband Chris, 2 great grandchildren Corina, Darien, and has many nephews and nieces including Faith Milot and her late brother Joe whom he helped raise.
ARRANGEMENTS: According to his wishes, there will be no visitation, with cremation to take place. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, Dec. 28 from 1:00-4:00 at the VFW, 67 Prescott St., Westford.
