Beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, Nancy passed away peacefully on January 6, 2024. Her greatest attributes were not just her willingness, but her selfless desire to help others and her devotion to those she loved. Nancy was born on April 7, 1938 in Hartford, CT to Lavinnia Stillman and W. Clark Stocking.
Nancy had a passion for music that became a life-long journey. After graduating from Boston University with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, she worked at various times as a music teacher, church organist, and choir director, with her final and favorite position being the music teacher at ABC Nursery School. In her later years, she was the loving caregiver to her husband of 57 years, Robert (“Bob”) Earl Overbaugh.
Always wanting to travel, she was forever reminiscing about her trip to Germany with her daughter and son-in-law and her annual trips with Bob to California to visit their son and his family. Nancy was an avid gardener, knowledgeable bird watcher, active church member, crafter, and baker, and was inherently curious. She is survived by her son, James, daughter-in-law, Christina, and grandson, Nicholas Overbaugh; her daughter, Robin, son-in-law, Christopher, and granddaughter, Naomi Weinbeck; her sisters, Trish and Jude Stocking; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends will gather to honor and remember Nancy on Thursday, April 4, 2024 from 4 until 8 PM in the Westford Healy Funeral Home, 57 North Main Street, Wesdford. Her Celebration of Life will be held on Friday April 5, 2024 at 11 AM in the United Methodist Church of Westford, 10 Church Street Westford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the United Methodist Church of Westford (www.umcw.org).
