Peter J. Hemingway, 62, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 18, 2024. He was the beloved husband of 38 years to Christina (Sica) Hemingway.
He was born in New Bedford, MA on January 10, 1962 and was the son of the late Elizabeth (Scully) and Vincent Hemingway.
Peter earned undergraduate and master’s degrees from Babson College and spent his career working in finance with ophthalmological medical device companies, but he liked it best when he was out on Buzzards Bay, sailing with his family and friends. Whether it was racing with his brother Chris and the Seefest crew or, in later years, cruising with his wife and kids on his own sailboat, The Surprise, he was always happiest out on the bay.
Steadfastly reliable, calm in a crisis and ready with the answer to any question, Peter provided the strong foundation from which his family grew and thrived. He was simply the best husband and father his family could have asked for.
In addition to his wife Christina, Peter is survived by his children, Lauren Hemingway and her husband, Robert Paro of Acton and Jeremy Hemingway and his wife Katherine of Cambridge and his grandson, Julian. Also, his brother, Thomas Hemingway; his sisters, Maureen Hemingway, Elizabeth Pye and her husband James and Barbara Hemingway; his sister-in-law, Cheryle Hemingway; his step-mother, Paula Hemingway; as well as many extended family and friends.
Peter was the brother of the late Christopher and Vincent Hemingway.
