WESTFORD - Richard A. Bennett, age 84, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 6, 2016 at Emerson Hospital in Concord. For sixty one years, he was the beloved husband of Ann K. (Scofield) Bennett.He was born in Wakefield on September 8, 1931, a son of the late Elmer and Jennie (White) Bennett. Richard was a a resident of Westford since 1957 and a communicant of St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.Prior to his retirement, he was employed in the shipping and receiving department with MIT Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington for many years. He previously worked for Murray Printing in Forge Village for twenty five years.Richard was a member of the American Legion Post 159, the VFW Post 6539, the Franco American Club in Westford and was a volunteer at the Cameron Senior Center in Westford for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, woodworking and cooking. He was a gourmet cook and was known for his pickle, jelly and jam preserves. Richard's greatest joy was his family and loved nothing more than spending time with his grandchildren.Besides his loving wife, Ann, he is survived by his children, Alan Bennett and his wife Cindy of Westford, Christopher Bennett of Anaheim, CA and Christina James and her husband Mark of Shirley; a brother, Robert Bennett of Wakefield; six grandchildren, Jonathan, Timothy and Adam Lamy, Richard, Kayleigh and Desiree' Bennett; a great grandchild, Ayden Lamy; also many nieces and nephews. He was a brother of the late Edith Garrett, Irene Surette, Mary Malonson, Margaret MacQuarrie, Helen Doucette, Tina Maybury, Bernice Collins, Nelson, Thomas, George and Donald Bennett.ARRANGEMENTS - Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his Memorial Visitation at the J. A. HEALY SONS FUNERAL HOME, 57 N. Main St., WESTFORD, on Thursday, May 12, from 4 until 7pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 107 N. Main St., Westford (all are asked to please meet at church). Interment will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Cameron Senior Center, PO Box 2223, Westford, MA 01886.
