WESTFORD -- Richard D. Magaw, Sr., age 55, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 3rd, 2014 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston MA.
He was born in Groton, MA on October 12, 1958, son of Carroll and Gloria (Strickland) Magaw of Shapleigh, ME. Richard was a graduate of the Ayer School System. He was a Vietnam Era Veteran having served in the US Navy as a Seabee (CB).
He was employed at Peterson's Party Center (formerly Table Toppers of Newton) for the past several years. Rich was a co-founder and member of the New England Freedom Riders. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, taking long scenic trips on his Harley, ballroom dancing and snowboarding.
In addition to his parents, Carroll and Gloria Magaw, he is survived by his six children, Richard Magaw, Jr. and his wife Krystle of Lowell; Millicent Magaw and her fianc Patrick Tysinger, both of Suffolk, VA; Noelle Magaw of Jacksonville, FL; Colin Magaw of Gaithersburg, MD; Rachelle Magaw and Shaun Magaw, both of Westford; his brothers and sisters, Debi Libby of Shapleigh, ME; William Magaw and his wife Tara of Portland, ME; Susan Tedesco and her husband, James of Groton, MA; Timothy Magaw and his wife Wendy of Ogden, UT; and Madeline Magaw of Quincy, MA; two grandchildren, Charlotte and Jackson Magaw; his ex-wife Camille Connell; many nieces and nephews, extended family and very dear friends.
Relatives and friends may call at the J. A. HEALY SONS FUNERAL HOME, 57 N. Main St., WESTFORD, on Thursday, Sept. 11, from 4 until 8pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 107 N. Main St., Westford. Interment to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford.
