WESTFORD - Robert H. Arling, age 88, passed away on Sunday evening, July 5, 2015 at the Westford House in Westford. Married for 38 years, he was the husband of the late Vera (Halko) Arling who passed away on December 24, 2009. They resided in the Forge Village section of Westford for many years.
He was born in Medford on March 20, 1927, a son of the late Charles and Eva (Holt) Arling and served in the United States Navy.
Due to an illness forcing him into early retirement in 1986, Bob worked at the Murray Printing Company/Courier Corporation as an accountant for many years.
Bob has been a master mason of the William Sewall Gardner-Kilwinning AF & AM Lodge for 57 years and a life member of the American Legion, Post 227, Middleton, MA
He loved all sports but was especially an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and always had a soft spot in his heart for the Braves.
He was a loving step-dad to his step-daughters, Barbara Kovalchek and Debbie Gaynor, and step-son Steven Van Strien. Bob was a wonderful grandfather to three grandchildren, David and Sheri Kovalchek, and Rebecca Sweetser and a great-grandfather to David and Delayni Kovalchek.
A special thanks to Personal-Touch Home Health Care in Chelmsford who brought many years of love and happiness to Bob's life with their home health services. The love and care they provided to Bob was exceptional and Bob truly looked at them as family.
A special thanks to the wonderful loving staff at All Care Adult Day Health Center in North Chelmsford that Bob attended three times a week. Bob loved "Group" as he called it and would come home with a story every day..bingo with prizes, crafts that he proudly displayed at home but his favorite was the entertainment as he is such a lover of music.
