Robert C. DeVincentis, originally of Watertown, and a longtime resident of Westford, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, after a courageous battle with cancer.


Robert served as a Second Lieutenant in the Army National Guard, became a member of the American Legion Post 159, AM Vets Post 447 and Franco American Club.


Robert started his career as an electrician at Polaroid, before moving to Leominster Trade school and then on to Nashoba Valley Technical High School as an electrical teacher, where he was also a football coach. Robert owned and operated his own electrical business, DeVincentis Electric. He also taught night classes at Greater Lowell Vocational and Shawsheen Technical. Robert served as a member of the Board of Directors for The Marys Community Thrift Store in Westford and was a co-founder of the Tommy Ride to benefit the Thomas J. DeVincentis Scholarship Fund.


Robert was proud of his Italian heritage, and in 2014 he fulfilled a lifelong dream by taking his family to Roccacaramanico, Italy, which was the birthplace of his parents. In his free time, Robert enjoyed spending time with his family, riding around on his motorcycle, feeding the birds and squirrels in his yard, and watching Old Western movies. Robert was an avid sports fan, and loved nothing more than spending his Sundays cheering on the Patriots.


After retiring, Robert moved with his wife to Dunnellon, Florida, where they became active members of their community for 15 years. Robert served as the Levy County Representative for the Rainbow Lakes Estates, and as a member of the Rainbow Lakes Estates Crime Watch.


Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Constance DeVincentis; his four children, David and his wife, Cheyenne DeVincentis, Sheri Benoit, Wendy and her husband, Ryan Turcotte, and Kara and her husband, Mark Valcourt; twelve grandchildren, Joshua and Sarah Olson, Robert and Heather Benoit, Theresa and John Hathaway, Lauren Benoit and her fiancé Andrew Kinniburgh, Amanda McCarthy, Katherine McCarthy, Mary McCarthy, Hannah Turcotte, Katelyn Turcotte, Abigail Turcotte, Matthew Valcourt and Harlee DeVincentis; four great-grandchildren, Cameron Benoit, Savanah Benoit, Ava Benoit, and Elaina Hathaway. ÂHe is also survived by his dog, Macho. He is pre-deceased by his father and mother, Frank and Mary DeVincentis, his Godson, Tommy DeVincentis, and his grandson, Neal Benoit.


ARRANGEMENTS - Visiting hours will be held at the J. A. HEALY SONS FUNERAL HOME, 57 N. Main St., Westford, on Sunday, August 20, from 3-7PM.His FuneralMass will be held on Monday morning, August 21, at 10AM at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, Westford. Interment will be private.
