WESTFORD -- Robert "Bob" Schmaltz, 88, of Westford, MA, formerly of Mendon, VT, Vienna, VA, Washington DC and Scranton, PA, died September 21, 2014 after a brief illness.
Son of the late Ludwig and Anna Schmaltz, Bob was born on November 6, 1925 in Scranton, PA.
An Eagle Scout, he attended Lehigh University (BSIE) and George Washington University (MBA). Bob served prior to the end of World War II (Army Air Corps) as a navigator on B-29s. He obtained the rank of Lt. Colonel in the Air Force Reserves.
Bob worked for the Department of Defense as a Cold War warrior. His retirement was longer than his career.
Bob was a devoted husband of 59 years to Lorraine, who passed in 2008. They travelled the globe and were veterans of over 80 cruises.
Bob, a noted author, is survived by his three sons, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He was predeceased by his three sisters.
Interment will be at Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery; Center Valley, PA; on November 9th at 1:30PM.
