Roy H. Erickson, age 92, a longtime resident of Westford died Saturday, February 25, 2023 following a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of the late Dorothy G. “Dottie” (Mann) Erickson, to whom he was married for 65 years prior to her death in 2022.
He was born in Natick on November 27, 1930, and was the a son of the late Carl and Karin (Beck) Erickson. He received his education in Wellesley schools and was a graduate of Wellesley High School.
Roy proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed for over 30 years as an electronics technician by Haystack Observatory in Westford. Earlier in his career he was employed in that same capacity by MIT Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington.
In his free time, he enjoyed owning and working on antique cars and antique radios and listening to blue grass music, especially Southern Rail, whom he as been a fan of and friends with for many years.
Roy and Dottie were longtime members of the NEMAC Car Club.
He is survived by his two children, Donna B. Erickson of Tyngsboro and Steven R. Erickson of Westford; and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Carl “Arthur” Erickson, Donald “Dunnie” Erickson, Karin Gilley, Lillian Leupold and Ellen Enemark.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Roy’s Memorial Visitation at the WESTFORD HEALY FUNERAL HOME, 57 N. Main Street, Westford on Thursday, March 9th from 4:00 until 6:30pm followed by his Funeral Service at 6:30pm at the funeral home. Spring burial in Highland Cemetery in Dover, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Roy’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
