WESTFORD - Thomas David Messenheimer, age 63, a longtime resident of Westford, passed away on Monday, Dec. 12, 2016 at his home following a lengthy illness. For thirtyseven years, he was the beloved husband of Maria E. (Wardwell) Messenheimer.
He was born in Dracut on November 13, 1953, a son of the late William and Ruth (Beaton) Messenheimer.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed as an insurance salesman and previously as a union worker in Boston havingworked as acarpenter andalso for therailroad.
Among his many interests, he enjoyed music, playing guitar andstudying history. Above all, he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren, whom hehelped raise and spent his remaining years guiding, teachingand giving advice to.
Besides his wife, Maria, he is survived by his three sons, Nick Messenheimer and his wife, Meghan, of Shirley, David Messenheimer and his wife, Ruthann, of Westford and Keith Messenheimer and his companion, Nicole, of Chelmsford; his grandchildren, Joseph, Evlyn, Melissa and Jaiden; a brother, William R. Messenheimer of Ft. Myers, FL; a sister, Susan Messenheimer and her partner Carol of Truro, MA; anda brother-in-law, Floyd Wardwell of Dracut. He was the brother of thelate James Messenheimer.
