Ursula C. Szylvian

Ursula (Conway) Szylvian, retired RN, of Westford, passed away August 14, 2012. She was the widow of the late Edmund Szylvian who passed away in June 2007. Ursula was born in Lowell, the daughter of the late Lowell Police Captain Owen S. and Madeline (Duplesis) Conway. Ursula graduated from Lowell High School and the St. Johns Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of the Army Corps and following WWII worked at St. Johns Hospital in Lowell, the US Army hospital at Fort Devens, and Groton Community Hospital. After her children were grown, she returned to nursing, working at the Werstford Nursing Home and Beaconcrest Nursing Home in Lowell. She was a devoted wife and mother and a fabulous cook. Ursula enjoyed trips to the ocean, Europe, Russia, her daughter's farm, and day trips anywhere with her beloved Ed. Ursula is survived by her son Edmund "Ted" C. and his wife Debra Ann (Falcone) Szylvian of Townsend, three daughters, Ursula "Bunny" Johnson and her husband Bill of Canaan, VT, Kristin Chiarappa and her husband Michael of Haddonfield NJ, and Andrea Szylvian of Lowell, a granddaughter Sarah Grace Szylvian of Townsend, a sister Janet Macleod of Los Angeles CA, a sister-in-law Irene Szylvian of Westford, and many nieces and nephews. Ursula was life-long friends with a group who called themselves, "The Club Girls." With these relationships, she had plenty of laughs and memories through the years. The family of Ursula would like to thank the Doctors, Nurses, and the Staff at Lowell General Hospital for their compassionate care during her illness.brRelatives and Friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Friday August 17th at 11 a.m. at St. Catherine's Church, 107 North Main Street , Westford MA. Burial will take place following her Funeral Mass at St. Catherine Cemetery, Westford.In lieu of flowers donations in Ursula's memory may be made to Maryknoll Fathers, P.O. Box 302 Maryknoll, NY 10545.
