William Joseph Cotter

April 9, 1942 — August 17, 2015

HEBRON, NH - William J. Cotter, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 17, 2015 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Eileen (Wall) Cotter.

William was born in Somerville, MA, on April 9, 1942, son of the late John and Margaret (Anderson) Cotter. He was a long time resident of Billerica, moving to Westford for many years where he was a communicant of St Catherine of Alexandria Parish, presently residing in Hebron, NH enjoying the lake for the past fourteen years as well as Punta Gorda, FL during the winter months. He served in the U. S. Army Medical Core Reserves as a medic.

Prior to his retirement, William was employed by the MBTA for many years. He was a former member of the Irish American Club of Billerica, as well of the Elks of Billerica and Florida. Presently a member of Father Bennet's Boys Club of New Hampshire. William was an avid traveler who loved to explore the world. He enjoyed golf, with his biggest enjoyment spending quality time with family and friends.

Besides his wife Eileen, he is survived by his three daughters, Arleen Lowney and her husband Daniel of Groton, Christine Johnson and her husband Brian of Westford, and Kathleen Nye and her husband John of Pepperell; five grandchildren, Christopher, Haley, Amanda, Liam and Shannon; a sister, Anne Harris and her husband Daniel of Tewksbury; a brother, Gerard Cotter of Revere; a sister-in-law, Joanne Cotter of Westford; also many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John Cotter.

Relatives and friends may call at the J. A. HEALY SONS FUNERAL HOME, 57 N. Main St., WESTFORD, on Sunday, August 23, from 2 until 5 pm. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday Morning at 10 o'clock at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 107 N. Main St. Westford (Please meet at church). Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Speare Memorial Hospital, in honor of the Emergency Department, 16 Hospital Road, Plymouth, NH 03264, www.spearehospital.com/donations
