William Joseph Woitowicz

Sergeant William Joseph Woitowicz, USMC, of Groton, died June 7, 2011 in combat in the Badghis province of Afghanistan. He was born April 14, 1988 in Concord, MA, a son of Kevin J. and Rosemary (Labelle) Woitowicz. He was a graduate of Groton Dunstable High School, Class of 2007 where he was involved in athletics and played on the basketball team. Sergeant Woitowicz was a member of the 2nd Marine Special Operations Battalion where he served with distinction. He received several awards including the Purple Heart; Combat Action Ribbon; Marine Corps; Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Metal; Afghanistan Campaign Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; Sea Service Deployment Ribbon; and the NATO International Security Assistance Force Medal. Besides his loving parents, he is survived by his brother, Christopher Woitowicz, his sister, Amanda Woitowicz; grandparents Albert and Carol Labelle; great aunts Sophie Brule, Gabrielle Haley, Josephine Stevens; great uncle Warren Stevens; aunts and uncles David and Jane Woitowicz, Anne Marie and Frank Polak, Anne Marie and James Boyle, MaryEllen Labelle and Larry Osmer, Albert Labelle, Jr. and Morena Michelangelo, Willliam Labelle; cousins Allan and Lauren Woitowicz, Nicholas and Matthew Polak, Joseph, MaryClaire, Rosemary, John, Brian, Anna, Elizabeth, Cecelia and Grace Boyle, James, Kevin, and Steven Mullen, Melanie Michelangelo and Catherine Labelle-Michelangelo, Danielle Labelle; extended family Joe and Karen Moore and Matt, Mike, Jenny and Drew Moore. He was pre-deceased by grandparents Jeannette and Florian Woitowicz and Great Uncle Aleck Woitowicz.
